DAY 1, Sat 30/6/2007 (Saskia, Anja and Aiofa)
Somebody, called David, will pick us up at the hostel in Alice and we are looking forward to work for 2 or 3 weeks at the Red Center Farm in Ti Tree. We are promised to earn a good money for picking grapes, $ 15 per hour! Cash!
+++1 pm+++ Dave arrives punctually. The car is already stuffed under the roof with about 50 shopping bags, Dave hisself, his wife Barbara and another backpacker girl from Ireland. It takes 30 minutes to load our 4 backpacks, the 5 shopping bags we have and ourselfs into the vehicle, cause we have reorganize evrything and everbody. We are five in the car now, sitting like sardines in a can, having half of all the bags on our knees. It’s a 2 hours ride to the farm, the car doesn’t have an AC and we are alreay melting away in the back… Before we finally leave Alice Springs, we stop again at a supermarket – Dave buys some fire cracker and puts them into the trunk. (We girls suppose a temperature of minimum 80 degrees inside the trunk and we are scared of getting blown up!) Continue reading ‘The Ti Tree Story’
